Lately the evolution of technology in the world has increased sharply. The evolution of technology in the fields of computer, electronics, telecommunication and mechanics has produced a lot of smart and advanced application which can change the human life at current time and upcoming.
However in the fact a lot of people used their house only for resting place, while to control and monitoring their house they doing it manually, in the other words the owner of the house do it by themselves. When we have a vacation maybe we still bothered with keeping the house, from the electricity problem until the security of the house. Maybe sometimes we think to be able to have house that can understanding what we wants or house that able to help us in keeping the house.
Maybe this problem will soon resolve with new technology called “SMART HOUSE”. This program will help us in ease our works in keeping the house, with this program we will be eased in reduce the electrical load, security system, and we also have a full control in controlling and monitoring our house by accessing the main computer.
Smart Home Architecture
In the design of this system using a lot of application that can interact with each other, with microcontroller AT89S51 as regulator and controller of the whole device in smart home system which is then connected with computer as the central control through RS232 interface, the communication between computer and microcontroller using serial data and using Visual Basic 6.0
Forming the Data Base
in monitoring user activity in this smart home program is by building database. The database was created using Microsoft Access and the data used in this application is divided into 2 tables:
a. User monitoring table
The function of this table is to store information activity about control and monitoring
b. Warning/error report table
Warning/error report table is used to store message in default in purpose to make ease the user to monitoring the house when problems happened.
