Resident Evil 5 Review

Resident Evil 6 is just about to released this year!! So, before we play Resident Evil 6, let's preview the previous installment of the series, Resident Evil 5.

Resident Evil 5 is the fifth installment of Resident Evil Series, it took place in fictional place in Afrika named Kijuju. The main character is Chris Redfield, the member of BSAA (Bio-Security Alliance Assessment) North America Branch, and Sheva Alomar, the member of BSAA West Africa Branch. The main story is about Chris being asked for duty by BSAA in Kijuju to investigating some cases about the local terrorist using the B.O.W (Bio-Organism-Weapon) to take down the goverment there. However, as the story goes, Chris will have to make a decision which will decide the world’s fate.
Even Resident Evil is known by its survival-horror genre, Resident Evil 5’s genre is  different. It is more oriented to genre instead of survival-horror genre. As you play the game, you’ll never feel the true desperation. There is no dark and small alley, and you’ll never count your bullet as it is a precious stone. Resident Evil 5 has a nearly unlimited ammo.
However, even Resident Evil 5 has lost its horror-touch, the game is still challenging after all. Just like in classic Resident Evil games, there is a time when you need to do some brain-storming in certain areas to make tactics, where the enemy is strong and hard to kill. Just like in the last of the first chapter, when you need to lure the boss called uroboros to enter the burning-room or when you’re fighting against the boss called wesker, you’ll need to turn off the lamp so you can shoot at him.
The gameplay is generally similar with the previous installment, Resident Evil 4. Its third-person and become first-person whenever you aim your weapon. Just like all the previous game, you can’t shoot and move at the same time. At the beginning of the game you’ll play as Chris Redfield, the first and main character of Resident Evil Series. However, Chris is not a lone wolf, he’ll be accompanied by his new partner, Sheva Alomar, which is played by A.I. and will be playable only when you have finished the game.
The newest and most interesting about this game is the interactive gameplay. Your partner is very useful to help you to proceed some places. There will be a time when Chris and Sheva help each other and doing some aerial-acrobatic actions in certain places. Although your partner is useful, he/she is very trigger happy, which mean he/she will run out ammo very quickly. My tips is, when you play this game, use the different kind of weapon with your partner so you’ll never have to share your ammo. The ideal is, in my opinion, you carry the shotguns and sub-machinegun while your partner carry rifle and handgun, and it is up to you about the rest of weapon.
Another interesting part is the experience you’ll get when you play Resident Evil 5 with your friends. It can be done via internet or local area network/LAN.
In conclusion, aside of losing its horror-touch, Resident Evil 5 is still worth to play.
